TOP 10 AMAZON AUTOMOTIVE TOOLS
If you’re looking for a set of DIY automotive tools to purchase online, then Amazon has a great selection. Check out these Amazon top 10 automotive best seller tools for your next project…
1. FIRST on the list is a proper socket, ratchet, and wrench set. You’ll have plenty to choose from, but you’ll want a kit that has enough options for all the variations of different sized bolts on your car.
Amazon has tons of options, but the Workpro 450 piece set is one of Amazon’s best sellers. It has tons of sockets, ratchets, wrenches, and specialty bits like Allen and Torx too.
2. PRETTY MUCH every car made after 1996 will have an OBDII port which you can find under the driver side steering wheel.
If your check engine light comes on, then an OBDII scanner can read the codes from your ECU to help you determine the issue which is why you should have one.
One option is to purchase an all in one unit with its own screen like the Ancel AD310.
Or you can purchase a unit thats bluetooth enabled which can connect to your phone or iPAD. Just note if you go the route on purchasing a bluetooth OBD2 scanner like the Veepeak, you’ll need another app installed on your phone. Depending on the app, it could cost you. We use OBD Fusion because it has a nice real time dashboard display, but it has a one time cost of $10.
3. THIRD on the list will literally save you from aches and pains, which is a proper automotive creeper. I’d suggest not going cheap. You’ll want something that’s comfortable and super adjustable. Amazon has a few different options, but the one’s we prefer can be converted from a seat to a floor creeper.
We’ve owned the Pro-lift for over 3 years now and we love it due to the fact that it can be a seat or a full blown creeper.
If you want something a bit more fancy, check out this creeper with an adjustable seat and back that easily goes from the floor to a seating position:
4. FORTH is a good light that can fit into tight spaces. We recommend picking a few different sized magnetic lights to help keep any portion of your car visible while working in tight spaces.
5. FIFTH is a proper jack. Go for a low profile aluminum jack from Big Red and thank us later. The aluminum low profile setup can fit under most stock suspensions.
6. DON’T FORGET to prop up the car with a matching pair of Big Red 3 Ton Jack Stands too.
Also check out this special jack brace that can provide an extra bit of safety for your regular hydraulic jack too. Having jack stands plus this jack rod is well worth it.
7. A TORQUE WRENCH is an absolute requirement if you want to make sure all your bolts are properly fastened. This is critical, even when tightening lug nuts.
8. EIGHT on the list is a universal oil filter remover tool. Not every oil filter is torqued down correctly, so this tool will come in handy.
Don’t forget a fluid catch can for all that oil too:
9. NUMBER NINE is a nice solid 1/2 Inch Drive 24 in. Breaker Bar. You’ll want to use one of these to break loose stubborn bolts if you want your regular ratchets to last.
