EASTWOOD QST 30 60 REVIEW

Eastwood Elite QST 30 60 in garage

The Eastwood Elite QST 30/60 one of the best Scroll Air Compressors you can buy for home automotive DIY projects. Let’s review all its features…

The Eastwood Elite QST 30/60 is built with a scroll air compressor which looks like a literal scroll when opened up. The scroll air compressor and cooling system of the QST 30/60 sits on top of nearly a 30 gallon air tank.

The Eastwood Quiet Scroll Technology is much more efficient and quieter than a piston style air compressor too. The QST 30/60 only produces 63-65 decibels of noise and has the ability to output up to 145 PSI of air.

Not only will this scroll air compressor prove a continuous 12.7 CFM of air at 100% duty cycle, but it won’t disturb your neighbors either.

EASTWOOD SCROLL COMPRESSOR REVIEW

Once you have your QST 30/60 hooked up to a 220v power source, hook up the moisture collector and just make sure you have a good oil level reading. Now it’s time for testing a number of different air powered tools connected to the QST:

  • Our first test was a right angle die grinder and went to town on sanding our BMW e30 project car. The QST 30/60 kicked in after a few minutes and had no issues providing continuous air at 60 PSI.

We also used a cut-off wheel and made dozens of cuts into 16 gauge sheet metal with no problem.

  • Next up was an air hammer. Bolts zipped right off and we went through 12 lug nuts under 2 minutes. It was like changing tires in NASCAR.

  • After that we turned to sand blasting with a small portable hopper. The hopper always needed to be fed before we ran out of air.

  • The biggest test was our custom DIY vapor blaster. It needs high CFM to blast not only air, but also water along with a slurry of media. We threw an old 14 inch wheel in our cabinet and started blasting. The entire wheel was finished in under 30 minutes.

QST 30/60 PROBLEMS?

While the QST 30/60 is renowned for its quietness and high capacity some users have reported moisture in the oil system.

This was typically due to high humidity in the air causing water to build up in the oil system. Eastwood has since taken care of this with an updated automatic moisture drain kit.
