MILWAUKEE MECHANIC TOOL SET

If you plan to start automotive or auto body mechanic work, Milwaukee tools are known for being the most durable & reliable. Which should you start with?

BEST MILWAUKEE CORDLESS TOOLS FOR BEGINNER MECHANICS

Milwaukee makes various types of cordless tools including dozens of impact wrenches. For starters, we recommend the Milwaukee 2962-20 M18 FUEL™ Mid Torque ½” Impact Wrench for removing stubborn bolts.

  • It has a brushless motor.

  • Breaks up to 600 ft-lbs of torque

  • Fastens bolts up to 450 ft-lbs of torque

  • Prevent over-torque feature that stops impacting bolts at 35 ft-lbs.

  • It’s only 3.7 lbs without the battery.

  • Supports wide variety of different-sized Milwaukee M18 batteries between 1.5 - 12 AH.

The next cordless tool you should add to your Milwaukee collection is the M12 FUEL™ 3/8" High Speed Ratchet. Once we started using a cordless ratchet, we never wanted to put it down. If you’re taking dozens of bolts off a car, the ratchet can fit in places the impact wrench can’t making removing countless bolts a breeze.

  • It’s brushless as well.

  • 200 RPM Motor.

  • Supports up to 55ft-lbs Max Torque.

  • Supports the M12 batteries which range from 2-6 AH options.

With the M12 CP slim vertical battery, the ratchet fits nicely in hand and can wiggle its way into tight spots too.

One of the most versatile Milwaukee cordless tools is the M12 FUEL 1/4 in. Right Angle Die Grinder. You can use a cut-off wheel, sanding pads, emblem removers, rust wheel removers, and an assortment of die-grinding bits. The list for right angle die grinder attachments goes on and on which is why this cordless tool can hold you on having to purchase a sander, cutter, or angle grinder at first.

  • Sports a brushless motor

  • Provides up to 22,000 RPM

  • Has 4 different speed settings too.

NEW MILWAUKEE CORDLESS TOOLS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Once these new Milwaukee cordless tools come out, I’d highly recommend grabbing em. It’s the new M12 FUEL™ 6" Random Orbital Sander (3/32"). It comes with a built-in vacuum port and uses the more compact M12 batteries. This will make any sanding such as auto-body a breeze. It will also sport a variable speed trigger that can adjust between 3,200 – 12,000 RPM. Milwaukee also plans to release a 3/6 random orbital sander version too.

WHAT ABOUT STORAGE?

If you plan on purchasing Milwaukee tools, then you need a place to store them, especially for safe travel. Get rid of those old school metal tool boxes and go with Milwaukee’s modular Packout system. The variety of Packout options and 3rd party Packout MODs are off the charts.

I’d recommend starting with the Milwaukee PACKOUT 3-Drawer Tool Box and the Milwaukee PACKOUT 2-Drawer Tool Box. Both come with a variety of dividers. You’ll have plenty of room to store tools or other miscellaneous parts. They can easily be stacked on top of each other too.

Throw in a Packout Dolly, one Packout Compact Tool box, and a Packout Low profile tool box into the mix for a mini mobile setup. This will give you tons of options for ease of movement around the garage or on the go.

Last but not least is a Milwaukee 29 piece impact socket set to go along with the cordless impact socket and ratchet. The impact socket set is made from forged steel and will be able to withstand the forces of the impact wrench. Then grab the Milwaukee 56 piece ratchet and socket set. Both of these sets include metric and standard (SAE) sizes.

You can even store your socket set and ratchet in a Packout with a Packout tray. And the very last thing you’ll need is a good old wrench set. Pretty standard, but the Milwaukee wrenches have a nice bite that’s just as good as Snap-On or the infamous Icon wrenches.

Milwaukee has thought of everything to sap all the money from your next paycheck, but you’ll have a set of tools that will last. Plus with some Packout storage you’ll have one of the most organized setups.
